Summary
This fact sheet summarizes the likely impact of national health care reform (the Affordable Care Act) on American Indian and Alaska Native populations. Using data from the 2009 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), the authors describe provisions of the law specific to AIAN health as well as new aspects of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act affected by the law. The fact sheet also provides additional reading resources on health reform.
