The HEER team is currently conducting a study on the capacity for and access to dental anesthesia and sedation services across California in order to write a report to the legislature for the Office of Oral Health.

In September 2018, the Governor signed into law Senate Bill No. 501 (SB 501). SB 501 requires the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Office of Oral Health (OOH) to submit a report to the legislature that addresses specific issues related to access to dental anesthesia and sedation care in California. The Office of Oral Health has contracted with UCLA Center for Health Policy Research HEER team to conduct the research and analysis necessary to produce the report.

The report will be sent to the legislature in 2024.
