Xi Zhu, PhD, is a faculty associate at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and an associate professor of health policy and management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
Zhu studies quantitative and qualitative methods to explore questions in three broad areas: 1) how team design, team process, and quality improvement activities in health care organizations affect care quality and safety; 2) how market and policy environments affect health care organizations’ structures, strategies, and efficiency; and 3) how changes (e.g., quality improvement initiatives, innovations) are implemented in health care organizations and what strategies may facilitate the change processes. Together, his research builds on organization, team, and implementation sciences to identify strategies and approaches for advancing patient care while improving micro and macro health care systems.
Zhu received his PhD in sociology from the University of Minnesota.
