Sunghee Lee, PhD, is a research associate professor and the director of the program in survey and data science at the Institute for Social Research (ISR) at the University of Michigan. The ISR is the world’s largest academic social science survey and research organization, and it is a leader in developing and applying new social science methods.
Her research focus is to improve data quality through inclusivity, which could have profound implications for equity in social programs and policy decisions. Her interests include sampling and measurement issues in data collection with linguistic and racial minorities as well as hard-to-reach populations and cross-cultural survey methodology.
From 2005–2010 Lee worked as a survey methodologist for the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research’s California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), and co-authored various articles that appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health, American Journal of Epidemiology, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Health Services Research. She was also an adjunct assistant professor of biostatistics at UCLA from 2006–2010.
