Lisa Simpson, MB
Former President and CEO, AcademyHealth
Dr. Lisa Simpson, MB, BCh, MPH, FAAP, is a longtime leader in translating research into policy and practice that advances health equity for all. From 2011–2024, she served as president and chief executive officer of AcademyHealth, the professional home and leading national organization for health services researchers, policymakers, and health care practitioners and stakeholders.
A nationally recognized health policy researcher and pediatrician, Simpson’s research, along with more than 120 articles and commentaries in peer-reviewed journals, focuses on the role of evidence and data to improve health and health care, particularly for children and marginalized populations.
Before joining AcademyHealth, Simpson spent eight years as a professor of pediatrics. First, she was as an Endowed Chair in Child Health Policy at the University of South Florida and then as the Director of the Child Policy Research Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati.
Simpson is currently an Impact Fellow at UC Berkeley's School of Public Health, as well as an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida School of Public Health and the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University.
